‘Next stop: Lokhalle Göttingen.’ Where tradition meets world-class talent, the ELTEN Safety Shoes European Darts Trophy 2026 will once again set up camp. The spotlight will not only be on three-time record winner Michael van Gerwen, who has enjoyed many memorable moments in Göttingen. This time, the man to beat is someone else: crowd favourite Nathan Aspinall takes to the stage as the reigning champion and will do everything in his power to defend his title in front of the frenetic crowd of the university town.

The tournament will be played in the classic knockout system. The first four rounds will be played in a best of 11 legs format, the semi-finals in a best of 13 legs format and the final in a best of 15 legs format. All legs will be played in double-out mode. Prize money
In 2026, the prize money for European Tour events was significantly increased. A total of £230,000 will be distributed as follows:
- Winner: £ 35,000
- Runner-up: £ 15,000
- Semi-finalists: £ 10,000
- Quarter-finalists: £ 8,000
- Round of 16: £ 5,000
- Second round: £ 3,500
- First round: £ 2,000
The prize money counts towards the PDC Order of Merit, the ProTour Order of Merit and the European Tour Order of Merit (qualification for the European Championship).

Gary Anderson, James Wade, and Nathan Aspinall withdrew from the event on short notice. They were replaced by Mensur Suljović, Keane Barry, and Lukas Wenig from the reserve list. This list is comprised of the losing finalists from the Tour Card Holder Qualifiers, ranked according to their positions in the world rankings.
Luke Humphries had already informed his management of his withdrawal from the tournament in advance, but this was only communicated to the PDC after the draw had been made. His place is taken by Karel Sedláček from the Reserve List.
Jonny Clayton withdrew from the tournament at short notice due to an injury after the draw had taken place. He is replaced by Cameron Crabtree from the Reserve List.
