At the ELTEN Safety Shoes German Darts Grand Prix at the Zenith in Munich, James Wade faces Kevin Doets in his 100th match on the PDC Winamax European Tour. A mainstay of the series since the very first event in 2012, “The Machine” becomes the eighth player to join this exclusive European Tour club.
Straight to the Final at the Premiere
When the PDC European Tour ushered in a new era with the Austrian Darts Open in 2012, James Wade was there from the very beginning. The Englishman made an immediate impact at his premiere by reaching the final (losing 3-6 to Justin Pipe).
Fourteen years, one hundred tournaments, and two titles later, “The Machine” stands once again on a European Tour stage. The journey from his Austrian debut to the Zenith in Munich is the story of a player who has remained loyal to the European stage through both good times and bad.
The Titles: Gibraltar and Hamburg
Wade secured his first European Tour title in 2014 at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy. In the final, he defeated veteran Steve Beaton with a score of 6-4.
Two years later, title number two followed: at the European Darts Matchplay 2016, Wade prevailed in the final against Dave Chisnall with a 6-5 victory.
A Club for the Ages
By entering the European Tour’s “100 Club” today, Wade joins a select group of players who have shaped the series since its inception. Prior to him, only seven other professionals managed to reach this milestone.
